If Jesus Christ were to stand before you, and He said, ‘Here are the keys to the kingdom of heaven; choose one. The stairs to the kingdom are over there; all that is required of you is to choose a cross and carry it up the stairs. At the top awaits the ‘Kingdom of Heaven’.
You looked around and all you saw was an assortment of crosses. Some very small, but very heavy looking, another, very large, but not heavy looking at all. Then perhaps another that was laden with gold, and jewels and ever so lovely. Then perhaps another made of glass, one you could not see but was ever so heavy. Then perhaps another polished and molded that look suited you, another huge with thistles, and briar’s, slivers and tears upon the skin would definitely occur.
What would you say?
He even said, “I will walk with you, and show you the way; I will ‘help’ you every step of the way.’ What is there will delight your soul for eternity. It is mine to give and I wish to share it with you. There you will never want, for I will feed you and love you, there will be no more wars, no more tears, and no more sorrow. My ‘peace’ will reign, and the ‘joy that surpasses all understanding will be yours forever,’ because you chose to be ‘my friend, and love me to the end.”
Would you say, ” I can’t be bothered I have more important things to do than worry about carrying a cross too ?” Or, “Why do I need your help? I know where I am going.” Or will you say, “Show me the way Jesus. I want to be your friend for eternity. Take me with you!”
What is your answer? Did you know Jesus is asking you? He is, and does want to share His Kingdom with you and I. He has the keys,’ the cross is the key that will open the doors to His Kingdom. However, as heavy as the ‘key’ is, it is required to open the doors to eternity.
Now that you know He loves you so, that He will help you, walk with you, and show you the way; will you let Him?
We each must carry our cross to open the doors to the kingdom of heaven. ‘Christ is the way, the truth and the life. ‘ Without Him there are no keys, and no kingdom. So He waits, and asks you now; what is your answer?
Will I see you there?
Book of Matthew: Chapter 10 verses 37-39 Jesus Speaks:
38) “He who will not take up his cross and come after me is not worthy of me. 39) He who seeks only himself brings himself to ruin, whereas he who brings himself to nought for me discovers who he is.”
Book of Matthew Chapter 10: verses: 29-33 Jesus Speaks:
29) ” Are not two sparrows sold for next to nothing? Yet not a single sparrow falls to the ground without your Father’s consent. 30) As for you, every hair on your head has been counted; 31) so do not be afraid of anything. You are worth more than an entire flock of sparrows. 32) Whoever acknowledges me before men I will acknowledge before my Father in heaven. 33) Whoever, disowns me before men I will disown before my Father in heaven.”
