Misunderstandings are constant. They can destroy! Does not seem like such a simple word could do so much damage. Yet, indeed it does! Sometimes to last for generations. Only to find, no one remembers why one family should not talk to the other!
In the case of Pandora’s Box, which is a mythical term appropriated to the releasing of evil upon the world. Pandora’s box is defined in Webster Dictionary as: “the box sent by the gods with pandora as a gift to Epimetheus, which she was forbidden to open and which loosed a swarm of evils upon mankind when she opened it out of curiosity. (a prolific source of troubles.)”
The ‘nature of the beast’ is curiosity! When we go where we should not tread, opposing the instructions of our parents, or the guide lines of our Christian upbringing, we incur an onset of problems that are difficult to eradicate!
Though ‘Pandora’s Box is mythical it succintly embodies the ‘flesh filled’ human side of us all. We can not escape it. Unfortunately, we misunderstand each other, and choose not to question, but rather to close each other out!
When feelings are hurt and discontent reigns, we allow anger to surface. This (one of the seven deadly sins) allows evil to permeate the mind. Why? Simply because we can not fix what we refuse to address. Coming to terms with our short-comings is hurtful! We must allow ourselves to reflect on our sinfulness. The only way to improve ourselves is choosing to want to be honest. That takes courage. Courage few have, for if they did, they would indeed choose prayer. For prayer opens a line of communication up, that the spiritual person embraces! A living presence in an unforgiving world.
When Jesus walked the earth, He was misunderstood! To the point of being crucified! Truth is not easy! Truth is only available to the courageous! For the person who does not deem truth, does not pray. For truth manifests growth, growth in the spirit!
There are times when people lose their ‘cool’. When hurt, we walk away! However, the injustice of it, we cheat ourselves out of the truth!
When it is ourselves who have been closed out, we feel hurt intensified! Hurt, causes responses that are not forgiving and loving! This starts in the mind. If we are wise, we will reflect and pray. When we do this with a open heart and listen, we experience a ‘heaviness’ of heart when ‘evil’ has centered itself within. This is an enlightening of sorts. We may find ourselves needing to appologize, even though in the mind we think we did nothing wrong. In other words, being the bigger person.
When Jesus said,’forgive seventy times seven’ He meant endlessly. Not an easy feat. Yet, it is what brings ‘peace’. For it is not who is right or who is wrong, but rather about ‘peace’ in the heart and peace in the soul. Once we are able to get over ourselves, and do the forgiving that is required of us, we experience this peace, and rise to a ‘higher’ realm of spirituality! Very Real! Very much a blessing from our Lord, because He is pleased we chose to become ‘Christ-like’! He knows the temptations of evil are pushing us to hold that grudge to file for that divorce, to write off that brother or sister, scream at that neighbor, or curse at that ‘friend’! But, because He is awsome, He elevates us to a higher level of understanding, and faith!
The Human Mind is so complex, that even if you are smart enough to learn the ‘stuff’ to become a neurologist, (brain doctor) you will never find the answers! For God makes the impossiable, possible. Somtimes, A doctor will say this, defies all human understanding! God is ever present! He does not mince words. If He wants it, it is. No one or anything will change that. If we oppose God, He will hold us accountable, until we get it! He is patient! He understands, and He forgives; yet make no mistake about it, God is Love! Yet, God should never be taken for granted! For God is all powerful and never forgets!
In other words, and all powerful, all loving God, has His rules and Has guidelines! We have but to be obedient, to appreciate such great love. For in choosing obediance, we achieve understanding. Patience, then rises to produce the peace we all strive for and crave.
Because we can not possiably understand the source and inner workings of each other, we must work to avoid judging. The following is of Christ and He speaks:
Book of Matthew : Chapter 7 verses 1-5
“If you want to avoid judgment, stop passing judgment. 2) Your verdict on others will be the verdict passed on you. The measure with which you measure will be used to measure you. 3) Why look at the speck in your brother’s eye when you miss the plank in your own? 4) How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take that speck out of your eye,’ while all the time the plank remains in your own? 5)You hypocrite! Remove the plank from your own eye first; then you will see clearly to take the speck from your brothers eye.”
