The Locked Gate

When the children were young we had a fenced yard, and so I did not concern myself with the wherabouts of them.

The gate in the back yard had a typical closure, I thought was secure.    When I was feeding our six month old daughter, I looked up to find the ‘gate’ open and our two year old son gone.    The house backed up unto an alley, and that led to a main street.    I was frantic!   I had no choice but to leave our daughter in  the high chair and find our son.    I prayed the whole way, and found him running and laughing down the main street.   I was certain he was lost to me.   I was also certain he was to young to understand the ‘clasp’ on the gate.   Thankfully, I found him and he was fine.   I realized, I was a fool for having taken the workings of that gate for granted, and that our son was to young.  God was Good! He answered my prayers and both our children were fine.   I learned early not to take anything for granted when it comes to raising children.

Our Heavenly Father is totally aware of every instance in this life.  I have always been a very devoted Christian, and have prayed fervently througout my life.    When I have called upon our Lord, He has always answered me.   Though at times I have found myself disappointed, I realized He knew what was best.

In the case of my children, I have always asked for His guidance, knowing He is wise, and I am only His child myself.    Keeping that in mind has always helped me to maintain the perspective of His infinite wisdom.

The circumstances that we come up against in this life, warrant our Heavenly Fathers help!   No matter what it is.   I have had people say to me:’I don’t bother God with such things!’    I say, “I ‘bother’ God with everything!”   He is my
Father, He made me and He knows I love Him.    It is wonderful to know He knows I feel I need Him!   To me this is who God is!   He is Our Heavenly Father, and Jesus Christ is our brother!   Scriptures confirm this.   We are sons and daughters through adoption.   (I have written on this also.)

Whatever the course we are on, we need to know God is waiting!   He loves to hear from us.   Raising Children is a very important task, and should not be taken lightly.

If you have ever been lost and did not realize you were lost, and found later you were, you found the need to ask for directions.  (If you are wise, you do.)    In this life it is easy to get lost.   When you come to Jesus and trust in Jesus, and know Jesus, it is then you realize how totally lost you were.

When Mary and Joseph had lost sight of Jesus, and did not find Him for three days, it was not that Jesus was lost, but rather that they felt ‘lost’ without Him.  (St.Luke Chapter 11 verses 43-45) Of course the prophecy had to be fulfilled, for this to take place.     They were over joyed to find Him.   Just as I experienced great joy, in finding my son.   You can be sure they prayed too!

Our LORD uses another scripture to affirm the need for directions to heaven:

Book of Matthew, Chapter 7 13-14 & 20-23  JESUS SPEAKS:

13)”Enter throughthe narrow gate.   The gate that leads to damnation is wide, the road is clear, and many choose to travel it.   14)But how narrow is the gate that leads to life, how rough the road, and how few there are who find it.”

20)”You can tell a tree by its fruit.   21)None of those who cry out, ‘LORD, LORD,’ will enter the kingdom  of God but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.   22)When that day comes, many will plead with me, “Have we not prophesied in your name? Have we not exorcised demons by its power?   Did we not do many miracles in your name as well?’   23)Then I will declare to them solemnly, ‘I never knew you, Out of my sight, you evildoers!”

Conclusion of Our Lords Sermon: Verses 24-27

24)”Anyone who hears my words and puts then into practice is like the wise man who built his house on rock.  25) When the rainy season set in, the torrents came and the winds blew and buffeted his house.   It did not collapse; it had been solidly set on rock.   26) Anyone who hears my words but does not put them into practice is like the foolish man who built his house on sandy ground. 27) The rains fell, the torrents came, the winds blew and lashed against his house.   It collapsed under all this and was completely ruined.”

The children are grown now, and have families of their own.

They have been instructed in the Lords teachings;so, when the ‘torrents come’ their house is built solidly on rock!
