When we reflect on children, we imagine them small and in need of supervision. Yet, in Gods perspective, even we adults are children. We are indeed ‘His’ children. Yet, we fail to recognize this. We would rather empower ourselves than to turn to another who knows how. Pride, one of the seven deadly sins, is often the determining factor. In one of the many passages, Jesus says: ” Let the children come to me. Do not hinder them. The kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” From the Book of Matthew chapter 19 verse 14
So, in knowing that the kingdom of heaven belongs to the ‘childlike’. Then, we must search our hearts, to discover if we are ‘in love’ with God Our Father! He is our creator. Through Him, with Him, and In Him, all things are possible. Yet, if we are to proud to call upon the name of God to be saved through the ‘blood of the Lamb of God, then where does that leave us? Are we not in offense to our Creator?
So, whether it be the young or the old, do we all not need the love of one another? And so, if that is indeed the case, do we not realize that each of us has the spirit of God within us? Yet, this same spirit can be stifled. For example:
I was visiting with my grandson, who is 2 1/2 . When we said grace, he made the sign of the cross, and said, Amen when we were done. When we prayed at night, he prayed those prayers too. When a child learns what he lives, he is then an example for others. This is also true for ‘grown-ups’! By the same token, I was with acqaintance who’s son was pushed, and his Father told him to ‘kick’em! In comparison, we can see the diffence between ‘good’ and ‘evil’! Yet, people today, choose to believe there is no such thing as sin or evil! Unbelievable! The violence, and ill-mannered are that way by lack of direction, or lack of parenting. At any rate if there is no one to ask then who is to blame?
The family nucelus is in shreds. What changed? There is no one home! When there is no parental direction, there is no instruction. Children young and old need the direction and love of a parent. Yet, it is ignored! Why? Money, greed, power, position, prestige, and anything that elevates to a place of honor. It is humility that our Lord searches our hearts for. If we are arrogant and proud, and He who made us has no say, then where do we go from here?
In the ‘Epistle of Paul to the Philipians : Chapter 2 verse 13-16 13) It is God who, in his good will toward you, begets in you any measure of desire or achievement. (14) ” In everything you do, act without grumbling or arguing; 15) prove yourselves innocent and straightforward, children of God beyond reproach in the midst of a twisted and depraved generation-among whom you shine like the stars in the sky 16)while holding fast to the word of life. As I look to the Day of Christ, you give me cause to boast that I did not run the race in vain or work to no purpose.”
St Paul answers the question I proposed. Very clearly, we are to become Christ like in all we do. So, in maintaining the innocence of ‘children,’ we become children of God. For a world without Christ is a world in chaos. Christ came that we may all be of one spirit in Christ. Thereby achieveing peace. In Chapter 4 verse 9 and 19-20
9)”Live according to what you have learned and accepted, what you have heard me say and seen me do. Then will the God of Peace be with You.” In the closing St Paul reminds us: 19)” My God in turn will supply your needs fully, in a way worthy of his magnificent riches in Christ Jesus. 20) All glory to our God and Father for unending ages! Amen.
